We need to use the fruits vegetables and herbs that produce the highest number and quantity of phytonutrients possible so we get maximum benefit from them. Plants produce these phytonutrients while growing and fighting off insects and diseases. This is what makes them so valuable.

Plants exposed to pesticides do not produce so many types or such a concentration of phytonutrients as other plants, so they are not a good source of phytonutrients for us.
